Now, I don’t have to ask you if you want to avoid heart attack, stroke, respiratory diseases, type 2 diabetes or cancer. The answer is obvious.
How about if you want to live longer, healthier, happier, and with more energy and vigor? Again an obvious answer.
What if the key to this was found in just a handful of nuts?
Researchers from the department of Epidemiology at Maastricht University in the Netherlands found that just 15 grams of peanuts or most any other kind of nut daily has an amazing power to eliminate many health problems.
The long-term mega-study has been following over 100,000 participants since 1986 to see how their nut intake affects their health.
What they are finding in the ongoing study is that those who eat 15 grams of nuts every day are a surprisingly lower risk of dying from a very long list of diseases, including:
– Heart disease
– Respiratory illnesses
– Cancer
– Stroke
– Heart attack
Interestingly, more isn’t necessarily better. While the participants who eat nuts are, on average, about a third less likely to die of a disease than their nut-avoiding counterparts, there was no observable benefit to eating more than 15 grams per day.
Besides the incredible nutritional benefits nuts offer like being rich in antioxidants, protein, vitamins, fiber, and monounsaturated fats, it is seen also that people who are more likely to snack on nuts are less likely to snack on health-destroying foods like chips and sweets.
