Aging with grace and beauty is easy if you know what to put in your shopping cart.
Not only do these foods help eliminate problems like high cholesterol, insulin resistance, and hypertension, they also make you look younger.
What’s more, they can all be found in your local supermarket.
Want more youthful skin, shinier hair, and more vibrancy in your pallor?
Start eating these wonder-foods that seem to be nourished by the fountain of youth:
– Nuts- The natural oils in nuts help to restore the body’s ability to produce its own moisture from within. The anti-oxidant chemicals keep the bags away from under the eyes, and the protein helps stave off the munchies so you are more successful at keeping weight under control.
– Red wine – Ditch the ales, hard liquors, and foo-foo cocktails. All those do is make you overweight and hung over. One glass of red wine with a meal in the evening adds reservatrol, saponins, and tannins, all beneficial antioxidants.
– Probiotics- These gut-supporting little pre-bacteria help support the healthful balance of bacteria in your digestive tract. A happy colon makes for a healthy body. These can be found primarily in yogurt.
– Olive oil, avocado, and fish- The Omega 3 fatty acids in these powerhouse foods help smooth out the wrinkles and nourish skin, hair and nails.
These items are not difficult to come by- most everything on the list is found at the local market. The thing to remember, though, is to consume in moderation.
Overdoing any one of these categories will have the opposite effect, so limit consumption to recommended serving sizes.
Whatever you do to improve your health will, of course, contribute to feeling and looking younger. Some of the most important things to do are:
Use these 3 easy exercises to drop your blood pressure below 120/80 as soon as today…
Follow this simple step-by-step plan to get your cholesterol under control within days…
Losing weight is a breeze using this untraditional approach (no diet or exercise)…
I’m surprised that you not included;the new medical research of the negative/damaging affects of sugar;on cell communication/Glycogen production!!
Unbelievable! all are my favorite food but never take regularly.
Any food is good as far it does not contain gluten. That stuff is no good for anybody.
I’m not sure whether, after reading a comment left by John Hope, about the Damaging/Negative effects of Sugar on cell communication/Glycogen Production. The study may well be flawed, inasmuch we’re all so very different, what suits one doesn’t necessarily suit everyone. Studies do tend to generalise with many of the findings and there will always be those in our midst who defy all of the odds.
My Father who lived till he was 105 years and rarely had a days sickness in his whole life, used to insist on four spoons of white sugar in his cup of tea and he would drink at least ten sometimes more cups a day.
If the studies and findings are correct, it stands to reason that if he hadn’t been so foolish during his life by ingesting so much sugar he might still be alive today aged at 127 years.
He lived a full life and was active right up and until he succumbed to a virus in February 2001, that was during a fairly severe winter in England that year.
There were of course a lot of other interesting and defining attributes to his longevity, he always rode a cycle everywhere, twenty miles a day to and from work for at least fifty years. He didn’t own a car or any description until he retired from full time employment at age seventy and even then it stood in the garage most of the time and only came out for a wash and polish and a drive to see his sister, who he took for a Sunday Spin.
He also grew his own produce, vegetables & some fruit, Berries mostly and he had a private herb garden that he used to make teas from, the mixture of his tea’s were a secret known only to himself and consumed daily.
As a young man he saw the First World War and was a Decorated Soldier (Above & Beyond The Normal Call Of Duty MM) he laboured as a docker for fifty years and that was in the days before mechanical handling, so he probably expended anything from seven to ten thousand calories a day (in today’s parlance). Everything was done by sheer hard work, walking carrying and lifting, which when one considers how the human being originally evolved and was meant to do.
In conclusion I would say we are the victims of our own stupidity of what is “MODERN LIFE” and the soft life that we mostly lead, is the downfall of most of us. I’m lucky inasmuch I inherited some of his Gene’s and as a young man myself, I also took to riding a cycle, I still do at age seventy five, however I always wish that I had asked him what his secret herbs were and how he studied them, alas I too missed that boat..?
note that it has been established that 60% or more of so called extra virgin olive oils on sale are FAKE! Buyer beware.
That is more or less truth ,but not complete .Is important to reduce intake of protein ,but eat the best .Reduce carbs .And avoid eating protein after 5 pm .then aging will will slow down. Eating lot of protein ,especially cheap one will speed up process off aging .Works
I am 92 years old live along with my German Shepard dog and enjoy an active life. I start day by thanking God this wonderful life and the health that I am blessed with. My morning meal consist of oatmeal, fruit, juice, and coffee or tea. I begin with some simple exercise and one hour of voga and follow up with a brisk walk with my dog Andy I am active on the computer with my banking and email.I have a small wood shop in my garage where I work on my hobby of producing walking canes, folding stools and items needed in the help field. I take a nap every afternoon and refresh myself before dinner . I diet consists of small portions of chicken, soups, vegables, fruits, herb tea. I retire at 9:00 pm to the sound of soft music for the night. I expect to be around for many more years.
I see two camps here, those who avidly absorb everything that they’re told, provided it doesn’t support mainstream and those who, largely, it appears, from their own experience suggest that IT’S NOT THAT SIMPLE.
“Don’t eat protein” – ridiculous, without protein there is no growth.
“Don’t eat carbs” – ridiculous, carbs provide short term energy when you need it.
“Don’t eat fats” – ridiculous, fats protect the human body from all kinds of ailments.
Balance? Ah, now maybe there is something there, a balance of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, other trace elements and fibre seems to be an eminently sensible scheme – BUT, each individual will have an optimum balance that may not be suitable for someone else.
Moderation? Yep, that has a certain logic to it and since I’m sure that few here would disagree, I shall pursue it no further.
Unfortunately, the complementary/alternative medical lobby is becoming as religiously divisive and divided and, in some cases dictatorial, as the mainstream.
Fact, we’re born, we live, we die – get used to it.
Fact, we’re all different with different reactions to different things – get used to it.
Fact, your opinion is no better and no worse than anybody else’s – get used to it.
Fact, synthetic, clinical medicines DO WORK for SOME people but not for all – get used to it.
I do not excuse the over liberal prescription of inappropriate medications BUT, horses for courses, do not make the mistake of thinking that YOUR particular lifestyle is suitable for everyone.
My objections to the attitudes that abound in allopathic medicine is that too many are too reliant on statistics and chasing numbers such as blood pressure, serum levels of various metabolic factors BMI, etc. etc., often without any clinical verification as to the true relevance of those figures (except for the “average” person whatever that is) and that for economic and ergonomic reasons, they adopt the “one size fits all” approach.
Broadly speaking, without harm to others, why not do what YOU feel is best for you at the time?
It’s your life, live it but please, don’t try to live someone else’s nor allow someone else to dictate how you should live.
Think, research , question by all means but why slavishly follow the opinions of other? Unless you want to!
Realmente fácil incluÃrlos en nuestra dieta diaria, dentro de una alimentación sana también.
To Brian and Edward. Hi Guys I really enjoyed reading about Brians dad and Edward’s lifestyle. How inspiring. I totally agree Brian that our inactive lifestyles are our downfall. An active life, thankfulness and a healthy diet with lots of veges are the key. But I do think genes play a large part two. They dictate how long we can live but the things we do to our bodies can
shorten the time our genes have written into them.
