We recently wrote about a study regarding black tea combating type 2 diabetes. A new Archives of Internal Medicine study has found that drinking 3-cups of black tea per day is also effective at lowering blood pressure in adults with hypertension.
In this study, a group of adults were asked to either drink black tea or avoid tea over a 6-month period.
At the end of the 6-months, the blood pressure in the tea group dropped by 5 points on average. The scientists note that black tea’s concentration of a unique form of antioxidant known as polyphenols was responsible for its ability to significantly lower blood pressure.
A step-by-step plan to fight back against high blood pressure…
Someone for tea?
Hi Christian: Can you post some information on afib! Have a great day! Phil
That just confirms my beliefs.
Please help me understand what is meant by black tea. Is it tea without milk or something else? And if you add milk or cream to black tea , does it essentially cease to be black tea ?
I WILL TRY SOME AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND BE SURE TO GIVE YOU FEED BACK.
Malie did you try some? What do you think?
Hibiscus tea is reported to also effectively lower high blood pressure.
What KIND/BRAND of tea?? And could you please put in a clickable link in your emails? Copy/paste is so 10 years ago..lol.
I don't like the.
I will also try then give back my opinion.
It sounds great.Lets try.
Hi there, Does it have to be black with no milk?
Would like to know whether we speak about regular black tea or decaffinated black tea ??
Thanks for your guidance,
Bernhard Gubser
What about if you add milk in the tea? Does it still help?
great I would do the same…..what about cayenne pepper..
I always drink black tea as I am Turkish, but it would not make much difference to my blood pressure..Caffeine is not good for the blood pressure!
I was told black tea is not good for blood pressure
because of the caffeine. Double blind testing, may be?
never have tried black tea, but do know that Hibiscus tea is good for lowering blood pressure.
who were the test subjects. When test are conducted in the united states on any drugs or herbal products. The candidates are always male caucasian in their mid thirties. So Indian people are big fan of tea so are british people.I don't think that will make a good product for combatting High blood pressure which has so many ways you can get it, For example stress, clog arteries, circulatory propblems, heart disease, elevated triglycerides.Had a bad relationship.
why?
Is this now tea without milk or is there a tea called black tea ?
Unsure if you just mean ordinary black tea or is there a special one!
how about green tea? other say it is also best to control blood pressure because of its antioxidant properties.
I was told black tea is not good for high blood pressure because of the caffeine component of it. Any comment on that please.
Hi Chris.
I also wonder if milk may be added or “black” only
Owen I'm not a tea "fan", but I'm trying now. I suppose it's ordinary tea, as there's green tea and herbal tea etc. So, I tried a cup of those with the roses on the box and another brand! And just to make sure I do it right, I didn't use milk. But oh my, for a coffee drinker, it's a taste to get used to! But I'll keep on trying! My husband drinks black tea black and if he can do it, I can do it! (better! Ha-ha-haaaaa)
Correct me if i am wrong but there are polyphenols in green tea too…so they both should do the same job if that is what they claim is lowering blood pressure.
Tommi…..there is not much caffeine in either green tea or black tea…typically 20 mg a cup compared to 80 mg for coffee but if you drink it in the evening,i found it disturbs mt sleep(green tea)…so my advice is dont drink it after 6pm.
Would decaf black tea have the same effect? Can’t drink ordinary tea…
for God's sake I will try it 2day.
Yeh! Glad to here black tea can help lower blood preasure; I have recently found a black tea, made with Vanilla bean; It’s kind of like a vanilla latte but without the calories; I add vanilla almond milk – 1 tbsp. (sugar free) so that the tea is less likely to stain my teeth; it’s a very yummy alternative, but not sure if it will lower blood preasure the same as just plain black tea?
Well, there could be something into it. I've been suffering from hypertension. Initially I took some pills, but I am mentally allergic to chemical medicine as a rule, though I admit that sometimes there is no alternative. I am a tea drinker and used to add milk. However, milk reduces greatly the positive input of the naturally occurring antioxidants in tea and so I switched over some three years ago. I have not been using any hypertension medication in that time and I must say that my hypertension levels have been reduced and are manageable. Until now I was not aware of this effect; an added bonus!
The tea is probably fine, but milk with A1 Beta Casein and grains with gluten are not.
Hibiscus tea works and sure taste better than Black tea just drink straight
if possible purchase loose tea.
I prefer unrefined seasalt(if you must use a little salt I do not use regular seasalt the unrefined seasalt is greyish has more trace minerals and has a different taste.( the cost is worth it)
Garlic and apple cider Vinegar as a salad dressing.
Chia is a great source of fibre’
Make sure you are regular at least once daily preferably twice. I have found one size does not fit all. You have to be committed to becoming healthy. I wanted to eventually be off prescription, taking it was unpleasant for me
currently they have been reduced. A healthy diet, Rest and excercise is also important.
I have also been able to find a good alternative Physician a lot of research and looking.
How about the relaxation involved in preparing and drinking any kind of tea brings. I would think this contributes to lowering blood pressure as well. Add meditation and you are a winner!
I have read also about your (3)exercises to lower blood pressure. My question is if someone´s arteries are beginning to harden, shouldn´t be the first step to clean the arteries in conjunction w/ the exercises and the tea? Let me know of any good product to clean arteries. Thank You.
I prefer a glass of good red wine … that will supply all the polyphenols that you need and a lot more enjoyable.
It sounds good…. black tea is good for hypertension.what about green tea, jasmine tea,so many teas…. can we get the same effect? Is there de- caffeineted tea?
hi,
best solution if you have a hypertension problem go to gym or exercise much you can. diet less fat, eat vegetable and fruits. Tea is o.k. too. Don’t eat meat just fish and vegetable, fruits.
