The other three groups were given placebo pills. <\/p>\n<p>After 40 days of the study, the researchers discovered that in the three cinnamon-consuming groups, the mean fasting serum glucose was lowered by <strong>18 to 29 percent!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Triglyceride levels were reduced by <strong>23 to 30 percent<\/strong>, LDL cholesterol by <strong>7 to 27 percent<\/strong> and total cholesterol by <strong>12 to 26 percent!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There was absolutely no change in glucose or triglyceride levels in the placebo groups. <\/p>\n<p>According to researchers, the consumption of 3 to 6 grams of cinnamon daily is very effective for lowering glucose and triglyceride levels and should be included in the diet of people suffering from type 2 diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>Another study review revealed that 500 mg capsule of cinnamon taken twice daily for 3 months had beneficial effect on glycemic control and drastically improves hemoglobin A1C levels (a measurement used to find out how much glucose is attached to red blood cells) in type 2 diabetes patients. <\/p>\n<p>There are many ways of consuming cinnamon. It is sold in the form of powder, bark or capsules.
