The results were surprising.<\/p>\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;5&#8243;]In the study that looked at a more than 4,500 people representing a cross section of the population, researchers compared waist size and insulin sensitivity of marijuana users and non-users.<\/p>\n<p>What they found was that people who use the drug had a much higher sensitivity to insulin, which is something that is lost as a person suffers metabolic disorders.<\/p>\n<p>They also found that average waist size for marijuana users was almost 20% lower compared to non-users, despite the fact that users ate a higher volume of food.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers, out of the University of Arizona, wanted to see if there was a link between the active ingredient THC and metabolic disorders.
