This is where an enzyme (called CYP3A4) that is absolutely critical for the body to break down medications and metabolize them is rendered useless when grapefruit is consumed.

Warnings on medication labels might tell you not to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking the drug. And it’s not just because the medicine can’t do its job because of the furanocoumarins (the chemicals that stop the metabolism of the drug).

The drug actually builds up in the bloodstream when it can’t be metabolized and becomes toxic- which can even be deadly.

Just 5 years ago there were only 17 drugs that were known to have dangerous interactions with grapefruit and other fruits, like the Stella oranges used to make marmalade.

Now, there are at least 43, including some for high blood pressure, some antibiotics, and a number of immunosuppresants.

More disturbing is that there are at least 85 other drugs that are considered to have disruptive interactions with grapefruit, but aren’t considered potentially fatal.

Even one glass of grapefruit juice is enough to cause a reaction that is dangerous to the 43 different drugs listed as having a highly dangerous interaction.

If you’re taking any kind of medications, I’d advise you not to drink grapefruit till you have cleared it 100% with your doctor.

Even more effectively, I’d advise you to seek natural solutions to cure high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Check out this step-by-step plan to lower cholesterol to a healthy level in less than 30 days…

Learn how 3 easy exercises drop blood pressure below 120/80 as soon as today…

If you’ve ever heard of “The Grapefruit Effect,” then you’ll know that you can’t eat grapefruit at all if you take statins like Lipitor and Zocor.
