More people die from legal medications than illegal. Actually, more people die from prescribed medications than in car accidents.

That’s why in today’s feature article I’m going to talk about two recent “traditional medication” scandals as well expanding into a bigger picture.

The most recent incident of scandalous drug recalls involves a generic Lipitor made by Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals. The issue was that small fragments of glass, the size of a grain of sand, had gotten into the drug.

The recall was issued in early November, but it wasn’t till three weeks later that the FDA released a statement warning people not to take this drug.

Even after the FDA forced the generic Lipitor into recall and stopped the manufacturing of the drug, and even after the FDA confirmed that some of the affected drug lots had reached consumers, even then, many pharmacists refused to take the unused drug portions back from consumers and insisted they were still safe.

Although this incident is fortunately not likely to cost any lives, it’s the procedure of the recall that bothers me:

[adrotate group=”5″]Why would the FDA wait for three weeks to warn the people about taking this drug? And why do pharmacists maintain that the drug is safe?

The victims of another drug that has been more in the news were not as lucky. Over 14,000 people were affected, more than 400 got sick and 34 died by a lethal steroid, called methylprednisolone acetate.

One day you come in for a routine, doctor-managed injection of steroid treatment and the next thing you know you’re sick (or worse).

The methylprednisolone case pinpoints the real danger of prescription drugs. When something goes wrong, something goes REALLY WRONG.

The fungus that was found in the methylprednisolone drug is called exserohilum rostratum. Actually, it’s a very common fungus that doesn’t cause much harm when exposed to our skin or we consume it orally – as millions of people do every day.

The problem is when e. rostratum is put into a drug that transports it into the most protected parts of the brain, the consequences are lethal.

Prescription drugs are just like any other drugs. They’re an extreme concentration of chemicals that have a precise purpose to alter the function of your body, and most often, your brain.

Since these drugs are so powerful, using them requires you and your doctor to be very precise. Certain drug interactions or using drugs while consuming alcohol can be deadly.

What’s more, medications are produced in hundreds of laboratories all over the world. Often with minimal regulation and supervision. Think of the hundreds of people you’re trusting when you consume prescription medications. There is no practical way to verify where they come from or who produces them.

Every 19 minutes somebody in the USA dies of an overdose or dangerous drug/alcohol interaction from medications prescribed to them.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m absolutely aware there are times and places for traditional medications. In some cases they’re the only way. We in the western world, however, consume way too much of them.

USA counts for 5% of the world’s population but consumes 80% of all pain medications. There is something wrong with this picture.

The solution is to use all possible natural and lifestyle-changing methods to improve your health as much as possible. Even if you can’t completely heal yourself, this will minimize the amount of drugs you need and therefore minimize the risk you’re taking.

Here are some natural solutions for the most common conditions in the western world:

Easy 3-minute exercises drop your blood pressure below 120/80 as soon as today…

Simple 3-step approach reverses type 2 diabetes…

Get your cholesterol under control in a month….

Completely rid yourself of arthritis pain in three weeks…

But first, before doing anything else, what do you think about this issue?
