But how can you eat to reduce its severity?<\/p>\n<p>A new study published in the <em>European Medical Journal<\/em> offers a clear answer.<\/p>\n<p>Using simple diet changes, people lowered their uric acid levels and drastically reduced pain and flares.  <\/p>\n<p>In the <em>DIEGO<\/em> (Diet for gout treatment) trial, researchers studied 36 adults with gout and abdominal obesity who weren\u2019t on medications.<\/p>\n<p>Participants were split into two groups:<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n&#8226;\t<strong>Test Group:<\/strong> Followed a plant-focused diet, avoiding animal products and processed foods, with dietitian counseling for 16 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8226;\t<strong>Control Group:<\/strong> Received generic advice about eating healthier and exercising.\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>The test group focused on:<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n&#8226;\tVegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds.<br \/>\n&#8226;\tHealthy fats like olive oil and avocado.<br \/>\n&#8226;\tAvoiding red meat, sugary snacks, and processed foods.\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>Over 16 weeks, the test group experienced significant improvements:<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n&#8226;\t<strong>Lower Uric Acid:<\/strong> A primary mechanism for reducing gout severity.<br \/>\n&#8226;\t<strong>Pain Reduction:<\/strong> Gout pain and flare severity improved by two points on average.<br \/>\n&#8226;\t<strong>Shorter Flares:<\/strong> While both groups had similar flare frequencies, the test group reported shorter and less painful episodes.<br \/>\n&#8226;\t<strong>Better Heart Health:<\/strong> LDL cholesterol dropped, waistlines shrank, and participants lost more weight.<br \/>\n&#8226;\t<strong>Safe and Side-Effect Free:<\/strong> No serious side effects were reported.\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>This is yet another proof that diet changes can significantly, even completely, reverse gout.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/health\/the-end-of-gout-vsl-bhhn\/\">In fact, thousands of readers have already completely rid themselves of all gout symptoms using a much less dramatic diet than used in this study.
