This risk rose to 50% when bacteria specifically linked to gum disease\u2014known as the red and orange periodontal pathogens\u2014were present.<\/p>\n<p>     2.\t<strong>Specific Bacteria Identified<\/strong>: Among the 13 bacterial species tied to cancer risk were <em>Prevotella salivae<\/em> and <em>Streptococcus sanguinis<\/em>. While these bacteria were linked to increased cancer risk, there was no significant association found with oral fungi.<\/p>\n<p>     3.\t<strong>Large-Scale Study<\/strong>: The study analyzed data from 159,840 individuals across three major health studies.
