All you have to do is eat a little more of them.

Scientists carried out experiments in the lab on enlarged prostate cells and in a sample of Sprague Dawley rats.

The rats were split into six groups and given daily doses of either lycopene, curcumin, a combination of the two in different amounts, a placebo, or finasteride (a commonly prescribed medication for enlarged prostate).

The scientists then analyzed tissue samples and measured hormone levels and inflammation markers. They employed network pharmacology, a tool that predicts how the compounds interact within the biological system, to get a clearer picture of how the combination treatment might work.

The results were breathtaking:

1. The combined power of lycopene and curcumin not only slowed down the enlargement of the prostate but also eased lower urinary tract symptoms in the rats.

2. A primary protein involved in cell growth, Ki-67, was found in lower amounts in the rats who received the combination treatment.

3. The combination treatment successfully curbed the surge of several hormones and proteins linked to an enlarged prostate.

4. The combination treatment also put the brakes on the production of certain proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-1beta, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha.

Therefore, the combination of lycopene and curcumin has emerged as a potential new line of defense against an enlarged prostate.

Lycopene is abundant in tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, watermelon, pink or red grapefruit, guava, papaya, red bell peppers, and apricots.

Curcumin is found in turmeric so to reap the benefits consume plenty of curried dishes like bean or lentil stews, vegetable stir-fries, or golden milk, which is a traditional beverage made by combining turmeric with warm milk and other spices such as cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper.

You can also get both of these herbs in supplement form at your local health food store.

But if you want to completely heal your enlarged prostate, you need to make a few more simple lifestyle changes explained here…

Almost all men will suffer an enlarged prostate if they live to be 60, 70 or 80 years old.
