They studied both plant and marine-derived omega-3s.<\/p>\n<p>They reviewed data from 19 studies in 12 countries with a total of 25,570 participants, all between ages 49 and 77.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 25,570 participants, 4,944 (19.3 percent) developed CKD during the 11-year observation period.<\/p>\n<p>The analysis yielded the following results.<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n1.\tHigher levels of omega-3 fatty acids from marine sources were linked to an 8% lower risk of developing CKD.<\/p>\n<p>2.\tCompared with those who consumed the least fish, those who consumed the most had a 13% reduced CKD risk.<\/p>\n<p>3.\tThose who ate the most fish and already had CKD experienced a much slower decline in kidney function.<\/p>\n<p>4.\tPlant-derived omega-3, called alpha-linolenic acid, had no effect on CKD risk or kidney function decline.\n<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/health\/my-chronic-kidney-bhhn\/\">Eating fatty fish and omega-3 will not reverse your CKD, however.
