{"id":22030,"date":"2020-05-03T13:30:20","date_gmt":"2020-05-03T17:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/?p=22030"},"modified":"2020-04-30T09:03:35","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T13:03:35","slug":"hypothyroidism-caused-by-this-work-habit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/2020\/05\/03\/hypothyroidism-caused-by-this-work-habit\/","title":{"rendered":"Hypothyroidism Caused By This Work Habit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Thyroid-330777460.jpg\" alt=\"Hypothyroidism Caused By This Work Habit\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9399\" \/>We usually associate hypothyroidism with weight gain, obesity, fatigue, depression, joint pain, muscle weakness, heart disease, and diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>But working habits, that\u2019s something new.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, a recent study due to be presented at the Endocrine Society annual meeting highlighted one work habit that may be the underlying cause of your hypothyroid.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous previous studies have found that people who work long hours have an increased risk of diseases and health events like coronary heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and arthritis. <\/p>\n<p>However, it is the first time that overworking has ever been linked to hypothyroidism.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers used the information of 2,160 working adults that had previously been collected by the <em>Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Information about the amount of worked hours and blood tests to examine thyroid function were used.<\/p>\n<p>1.4 percent who worked between 36-42 hours a week and 3.5 percent that worked between 53-83 hours a week suffered from hypothyroidism. <\/p>\n<p>This shows the more hours worked increased the risk of suffering from hypothyroidism by 2.5 times. <\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, for every 10 extra hours worked every week, the chance of developing hypothyroidism increased by 46 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Although women tend to suffer from hypothyroidism more in general, the studies found that overworking affects men and women suffering from hypothyroidism equally.<\/p>\n<p>Hypothyroidism is one of the risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular disease, so this explains the occurrence of these diseases in people who work long hours too.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the socioeconomic conditions of the participants did not skew results. <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/health\/my-hypothyroidism-story-bhhn\/\">Reducing the amount of hours you work will help, but it\u2019s not always enough.
