{"id":17960,"date":"2018-04-15T13:30:03","date_gmt":"2018-04-15T17:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/?p=17960"},"modified":"2018-04-07T00:37:05","modified_gmt":"2018-04-07T04:37:05","slug":"the-deadly-effect-of-snoring-and-its-not-sleep-apnea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/2018\/04\/15\/the-deadly-effect-of-snoring-and-its-not-sleep-apnea\/","title":{"rendered":"The Deadly Effect of Snoring (and it\u2019s not sleep apnea)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Snoring_22961614_m-2015.jpg\" alt=\"The Deadly Effect of Snoring (and it\u2019s not sleep apnea)\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9399\" \/>People who snore but pass the sleep apnea test are most often just written off as suffering an annoyance.<\/p>\n<p>This is however far from true according to a new study published in the <em>Journal of International Medical Research<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, snoring alone may even be more life-threatening than sleep apnea.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers had 181 people undergo a polysomnographic sleep assessment for one night, which included an analysis of their levels of sleep apnea and snoring.<\/p>\n<p>They measured their blood pressure when they woke up and again 15 minutes after waking.<\/p>\n<p>Those on blood pressure medication or with a blood pressure score of 140\/90 mmHg and upwards were classified as hypertensive.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, they found that people with sleep apnea were likely to have high blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>But they discovered that snoring alone was an even stronger predictor of hypertension than sleep apnea was.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, snorers without sleep apnea are even more likely than sleep apnea sufferers to have high blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>The reason why snoring is a blood pressure risk is the same as for sleep apnea.<\/p>\n<p>As common as snoring is, it is not a normal breathing pattern. It is a warning that there is an obstruction in your air passages that are meant to allow enough oxygen into your body.<\/p>\n<p>It may not involve pauses in breathing, like sleep apnea does, but it still means that too little air is getting into your body.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately there is a simple way to cure snoring permanently.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/health\/?page_id=1764\">The easy throat, jaw and tongue exercises, found here, strengthen the muscles around your breathing passages, keeping them open day and night \u2013 therefore permanently curing your snoring\u2026<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>People who snore but pass the sleep apnea test are most often just written off as suffering an annoyance.
