{"id":17515,"date":"2018-02-04T13:30:23","date_gmt":"2018-02-04T18:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/?p=17515"},"modified":"2018-01-31T00:20:05","modified_gmt":"2018-01-31T05:20:05","slug":"when-high-blood-pressure-is-not-diet-workout-or-gene-related","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/2018\/02\/04\/when-high-blood-pressure-is-not-diet-workout-or-gene-related\/","title":{"rendered":"When High Blood Pressure Is NOT Diet, Workout, or Gene Related"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Childhood_30301609_m-2015.jpg\" alt=\"When High Blood Pressure Is NOT Diet\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9399\"\/>High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease, and other cardiovascular risk factors are often blamed on bad diet or lack of exercises.<\/p>\n<p>And if not lifestyle factors, then they say it\u2019s the genes.<\/p>\n<p>But a new study from by the <em>American Health Association<\/em> and published in the journal <em>Circulation<\/em> reveals another reason, one that has nothing to do with above factors.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s something I hope didn\u2019t happen in your childhood, but if you\u2019re suffering any cardiovascular related diseases, it may be.<\/p>\n<p>After conducting a literature review of already published research on the subject, researchers concluded that children who experience traumatic events have a relatively high risk of obesity, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease, or other cardiovascular risk factors when they grow up.<\/p>\n<p>This places them at a higher risk than their peers of suffering heart attacks or strokes as adults.<\/p>\n<p>Childhood adversity includes anything kids see as threats to their physical safety, families, or social survival.<\/p>\n<p>These obviously include sexual, physical, or emotional abuse, but also the death of a loved one, divorce, and growing up in a household where parents are mentally ill, abuse alcohol\/drugs, or display violence towards each other.<\/p>\n<p>Homelessness, poverty, discrimination, the imprisonment of a parent, and living in areas with high crime rates are also on the list.<\/p>\n<p>Possibly most worrying of all, bullying at school, which is disturbingly widespread, has been identified as another form of childhood adversity.<\/p>\n<p>59% of American children report experiencing at least one of these. The risk is the highest for kids who experience four or more of them.<\/p>\n<p>This is just one more study proving that stress is the number one cause of high blood pressure. And it doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019re under a stress right now.
