{"id":17070,"date":"2017-11-11T13:30:45","date_gmt":"2017-11-11T18:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/?p=17070"},"modified":"2017-11-02T06:44:24","modified_gmt":"2017-11-02T10:44:24","slug":"how-high-cholesterol-surprisingly-prevents-cancer-study-findings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/2017\/11\/11\/how-high-cholesterol-surprisingly-prevents-cancer-study-findings\/","title":{"rendered":"How High Cholesterol Surprisingly PREVENTS Cancer (study findings)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blueheronhealthnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Cholesterol_13442972_m-2015.jpg\" alt=\"How High Cholesterol Surprisingly PREVENTS Cancer (study findings)\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9399\" \/>The received wisdom currently holds that the lower your cholesterol, the healthier you are.<\/p>\n<p>This may, however, not be the truth.<\/p>\n<p>A new study by scientists at Aston University in Birmingham in the UK, published in the <em>European Heart Journal<\/em>, reveals that high cholesterol can decrease your risk of a specific cancer by almost 38%.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers identified 16,000 women diagnosed with high cholesterol and 16,000 women of similar age and lifestyle with normal cholesterol.<\/p>\n<p>After the 14-year study period, 0.8 percent of those with normal cholesterol had been diagnosed with breast cancer, while only 0.5 percent of those with high cholesterol had.<\/p>\n<p>This means that those women with normal cholesterol were 38% more likely to develop breast cancer than those with high cholesterol.<\/p>\n<p>This was a surprising result and doctors wildly guessed that statin drugs (taken for high cholesterol) were responsible for lowering breast cancer risk.
