New research from St. Anne’s Hospital, Brno, Czech Republic may, however, put this into question.

Researchers used data from a large study of twins born between 1886 and 1925. A total of 11,644 individuals reported on their alcohol consumption between the ages of 45 to 55. This information was then compared to the incidents of stroke later on in life.

Long story short: those who consumed two drinks or more per day in during their midlife years were twice as likely to suffer a stroke before age 75 compared to those who drank less than half a drink per day on the average.

So according to the study, having two drinks or more per day in mid-life is, therefore, riskier for stroke before 75 than having a high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes.

But it changes after 75. Then, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes become bigger risk factors. It’s therefore extremely important to tackle these diseases early on.

The easiest and most effective way to lower blood pressure is the use of three easy exercises.
