One of the problems with heart health is that once the problem appears, it takes…

One of the problems with heart health is that once the problem appears, it takes a great deal of effort to reverse it. Sometimes undergoing surgery or taking dangerous medications for a while are the only options at that point.

But how about if you could detect heart attack risk 10 – 20 years before any obvious symptoms appear? This would give you plenty of time to make minor, positive changes to prevent the big bang.

A new, completely un-invasive test does just that. You don’t even have to have your blood or urine taken. All it takes is looking at your fingers.

According to Dr. Chris Renna, a physician at Lifespan Medicine, which is based in Santa Monica, the new and innovative test that can predict heart attack risk lies in endothelial functioning. The EndoPat test determines the health of the blood vessels, which plays a big role in healthy cardio functioning.

Renna states that it is possible to determine the level of functioning of the endothelial cells in people as young as 30, and if dysfunction is present, correcting it as soon as possible is one way to improve their health later on in life.

Some people are now choosing to use this test as an indicator of their cardio health levels, and whether they are doing enough to remain healthy in the future, especially when they reach 50 and above.

Those undergoing the EndoPat test are hooked to sensors that are placed on each of their fingers. After the sensors are in place, blood pressure cuffs are used to stop the blood flow in one of the hands.

When the cuff is deflated, the manner in which the blood flow recovers is measured by the sensors.

In patients that are healthy, the blood flow will be prevented by the inflation of the cuff, but when it is deflated, the blood flow spikes for a while, to make up for the lack of blood, before it returns to normal.

Those that display signs of abnormal heart functioning will only recover to the point that the blood flow was at before the cuff was inflated and the blood flow was stopped. There is no spike.

If a patient’s test is abnormal, it’s likely they will end up experiencing problems with their heart later on in life. The good news is that this test allows them the chance to take preventative action so that their worst fears aren’t realized.

Dr. Renna has stated that lifestyle modifications are some of the best ways to become heart healthy and prevent heart disease from becoming a reality.

Some of the modifications that a person can make include exercising, watching your weight and eating a healthy diet. When combined, these changes contribute to the restoration of optimal functioning of the blood vessels, as well as the prevention of strokes and heart attacks.

High blood pressure is the major cause of heart attack and stroke.

You don’t have to make drastic changes to get your blood pressure under control and contribute to a healthy heart – our blood pressure exercises can help you lower your blood pressure levels to under 120/80 in just under a week (sometimes on the same day) and they take as little as 9 minutes a day…

If you’ve tried just about everything to get rid of your snoring problem, you might…

If you’ve tried just about everything to get rid of your snoring problem, you might be at the end of your tether, wondering if you’ll ever be able to overcome this issue.

Luckily, there are some very simple natural methods that will diminish or even completely stop your snoring. And the best part is, they take very little effort and are mostly free.

1.	Sleeping on Your Side

Most people are much more likely to snore when lying on their backs. So try rolling onto your side. When you sleep on your back, your throat muscles push against your airway, which leads to snoring. Keep in mind that sleeping on your stomach may prevent snoring, but it isn’t good for your neck.

2.	Don’t Take Sleeping Pills

If you think tranquilizing yourself is going to help you relax enough to stop snoring, think again. These drugs depress the central nervous system, as well as relax muscles within your jaw and throat; this means that you’ll be more likely to snore. It is particularly important not to consume sleeping pills and alcohol together.

3.	Losing Weight

If you are overweight, particularly if you are obese, the added pressure on your airways will end up causing you to snore.

4.	Use a Mouth Guard

Since one of the biggest contributors to the snoring problem is a lax lower jaw muscle, this is precisely where a mouth guard can come in handy. If you’re interested in trying this, simply talk to your doctor or dentist.

5.	Treat Your Allergies

Suffering from allergies means you’ll probably find it difficult to breathe through your nose, and this will make it more likely that you end up snoring. Make sure to work in the use of local honey every day. A spoonful in chamomile tea before bed will help relax you and build up resistance to the allergens that make you stuffy.

6.	Don’t Smoke

Smoking wreaks havoc on the respiratory system – give it up if you don’t want to snore anymore.

7.	Schedules Are Important

Healthy sleeping habits contribute to the prevention of snoring, so go to bed at the same time each night and make sure that you get plenty of rest. Keep in mind that going to bed too tired contributes to your snoring problem.

If you are struggling to find a solution to your snoring dilemma and tired of keeping your loved ones awake all night, just give our Stop Snoring Program a try.

The program only takes as little as 3 minutes a day, and completely eliminates your snoring… sometimes the very first night. Check it out here…

If you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or even type 2 diabetes, you’ve probably…

If you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or even type 2 diabetes, you’ve probably been warned that these conditions could cause serious health issues, such as stroke or heart attack down the road.

But what you may not be aware of is that these conditions are affecting your body’s functions already. And it’s affecting the one organ that we all want to have in good shape.

According to a new research study, a link between heart health and cognitive strength has been found in individuals from as young as 35 years old.

The study shows that as the risk associated with heart disease rises, individuals experience a decline in cognitive function.

According to the lead author of the study and a fellow within the Groningen University Medical Center in the Netherlands, Hanneke Joosten, many people assume that they will struggle with the consequences of poor health habits such as smoking and bad diet only years down the line, but this isn’t the case.

Unhealthy habits affect you much sooner than you think. Joosten states that people understand that their habits might affect their heart health, but they fail to take their brain into account.

In his own words, “What’s bad for the heart is also bad for the brain.”

In order to conduct this research, 3778 people were studied between the ages of 35 to 82. The entire group was provided with cognitive function tests, ranging from their ability to reason and plan, as well as how comfortable they were in switching tasks. Another test was used to determine their memory functioning.

The Framingham Risk Score was then used to determine each individual’s cardiovascular-related risk over the period of the next 10 years.

Those who were found to be more at risk for heart disease were also found to perform 50% worse on the cognitive tests.

Some of the biggest contributors to the decline in cognitive health were diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking and bad cholesterol.

Smokers with a 15-a-day habit had, on average, a 2.4 point drop in their cognitive scores, while those with a habit exceeding 16 a day dropped by 3.43.

The memory tests showed precisely the same results.

The study was published in “Stroke,” the journal of the American Heart Association.

We all know that arthritis is an immune system disorder in which the body mistakenly…

We all know that arthritis is an immune system disorder in which the body mistakenly attacks its own cells.

It’s a chronic condition which tends to affect joints in the hands and feet and causes painful swelling which can eventually cause joint deformity and bone erosion.

As if that isn’t bad enough, there is a hidden health risk to having arthritis that in a way has nothing to do with the disease itself.

Upon till recently, this hidden health risk hasn’t been studied much. But researchers in United Kingdom set out to change that.

If you or someone you love suffers from arthritis, make sure you click here to read today’s article and make your comments…

Those living with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and its debilitating effects have the added insult of being highly susceptible to repeated falls and their associated injuries including head injuries and fractures, according to a recent study from the United Kingdom.

Due to swollen, damaged joints, fatigue and side effects of medications to treat RA, these falls happen more frequently and much less randomly than for those who do not have RA.

The chances of repeated falls after the first fall increase significantly, especially for men. This is why telling your healthcare professional about previous falls is so important.

Although these findings may not be surprising (especially if you’re familiar with arthritis), they’re still important because they highlight the need to be extra cautious when suffering from this condition.

Even more importantly, this study shows that the solution traditional medical system has for arthritis – that is medications – can actually make the problem worse. It’s therefore important to seek all natural solutions that do not cause side effects like medications do.

My step-by-step program to completely cure arthritis in as little as 28 days helps almost everyone. It uses diet and other lifestyle changes to tackle inflammation and therefore eliminate arthritis.

A Harvard study of over 70,000 partocipants found a link between heart disease and this…

A Harvard study of over 70,000 partocipants found a link between heart disease and this common practice.

The great news is that for once it isn’t linked to what we eat or drink.

What else could increase heart attack risk by almost 65 percent?

Are you highly productive at work? If you are in an office environment, that could be bad news for your heart.

Many of us who work hard in front of a computer or desk job also lead a sedentary lifestyle, rarely getting up and moving.

Given that we spend between 8-10 hours at work each day, this sedentary lifestyle adds up in risk factors for heart disease.

A Harvard study involving over 70,000 women found that those who sat for more than 10 hours a day had almost 65 percent greater chance of heart attack or stroke , versus their healthy counterparts who sat less than 5 hours per day.

The main reason for this was that those women sitting longer also developed high blood pressure and high cholesterol level.

Is the solution to quit your job? Obviously, that solution could bring about its own stress and health issues.

The good news is that bringing your blood pressure down is very easy, no matter how sedentary lifestyle you live.
How many times have you experienced starting a great weight loss plan, losing a ton…

How many times have you experienced starting a great weight loss plan, losing a ton of weight in the first few days or weeks and then come to a dead stop.

I honestly believe that there are very few overweight people who don’t know how to lose weight. We are bombarded with solutions in so many different venues.

The real issue is that we reach a plateau on our journey to health and that’s when the struggle to stay on the path begins. How do we break down that plateau?

A slowdown in weight loss or, a plateau, is a normal part of the weight loss process. When we begin exercise activities or eat less (usually a combination of the two) our bodies go into a type of shock and our bodies use up more calories to adjust to the increase in activity and change in diet.

After a few weeks, however, our complex and amazing bodies adapt and become efficient in the new caloric and activity environment.

Instead of becoming depressed that progress has slowed, it’s important to keep your body guessing about what comes next. It is vital that routine and diet become varied, not only to “trick” the body but to keep yourself interested in the weight loss journey.

Here are some steps that can help keep the body guessing and the mind interested:

1.	Take a look at what you are eating. You may be reducing calories each day but the body needs the right food to function. Be honest about what you are eating by journaling what you eat and looking at cutting out empty calories where you can.

2.	If you typically run as part of your cardio routine, try adding in resistance to some of those workouts.

3.	Change up the incline or speed when running.

4.	Change the number of repetitions in weight lifting, rather than simply increasing the weight.

5.	Know your body – you may need to decrease intensity on some days or take a day off altogether. Just be sure it is one day per week, rather several in a row, which can lend itself to stopping.

6.	Replace your swim routine with a yoga class and vice-versa.

Following these six tips, you’ll experience new jolt of weight loss on a daily basis. But don’t stop there. Make a list of your own ideas on what you can do to changeup your diet and exercise program to make it a new experience every day.

One of the most powerful methods I’ve used to lose weight are the simple exercises in our Weight Loss Breeze program.

This is actually not a workout but a completely different method to lose weight than you’ve ever tried before. It requires no workout or diet change to help. But if you use it in addition with other methods, the effects are multiplied.

Learn exactly how losing weight can be a breeze, here…

Usually when faced with cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol level,…

Usually when faced with cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol level, most good doctors and natural health experts will recommend several lifestyle changes before jumping on medications.

These lifestyle changes will usually include improved diet, exercising and reducing stress. You may also receive recommendations on good herbs that improve cardiovascular health.

New research from Villanova University however uses none of the above methods. Instead it proves that ONE daily habit, we should be doing anyway, can drastically lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol level.

Between the years 2000 and 2010, researchers studied over 500,000 people with periodontal disease as well as over 200,000 subjects as a control group and found that those who had regular dentist visits/teeth cleanings and no periodontal disease as well as those with treated periodontal disease, had a significantly reduced risk of stroke, versus those with untreated periodontal disease.

In another study, people who brush their teeth and floss regularly, have been shown to have a reduced risk for heart disease, which can cause stroke or heart attack.

Why would simply visiting the dentist regularly (every 6 months) for cleanings and treatment and brushing and flossing one’s teeth prevent heart disease?

Researchers have found links between increased levels of disease-causing bacteria in the mouth and atherosclerosis in the carotid artery (neck).

Clogging of these arteries can cause stroke. Additionally, blocked arteries in other locations of the body can lead to heart attack.

In addition to keeping teeth and gums healthy, you can keep your heart healthy and drop your blood pressure below 120/80 as soon as today, using these 3 easy exercises…

In addition to being a condition itself, it is often the result of an untreated condition like type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure or caused by the side effects of medications meant to treat these conditions.

A recent study, however, revealed three specific type of medications that are responsible for over 25 percent of ED cases.

The most typical conditions for which prescription medication side effects can cause ED include:

1.	High blood pressure medications – these medications work by lowering blood pressure and decreasing the work the heart has to do. The side effects can include difficulty achieving and maintaining an erection.

2.	High Cholesterol – Medications (such as statins and other drugs) to tread this condition limit availability of cholesterol, which is a necessary building block of hormones. Testosterone, being one of these hormones, is an important sex hormone.

3.	Depression/Anxiety Disorders – Antidepressants which are used to block certain chemicals in the brain have the added side effect of decreasing libido and causing impotence.

If you’re suffering Erectile Dysfunction and taking any of those medications, talk to your doctor about decreasing your dosage or other treatments which don’t involve the same side effects.

Will we one day soon be replacing blood tests with hair tests to determine cardiovascular…

Will we one day soon be replacing blood tests with hair tests to determine cardiovascular health? This isn’t science fiction, but rather science itself.

Researchers have discovered amazing results in testing hair samples for a number one indicator of cardiovascular disease which can result in heart attack and/or stroke.

Researchers in the Netherlands recently published results of hair sample analysis taken from 300 senior citizens.

What they were looking for wasn’t baldness or hair thinning but the level of the stress hormone cortisol in the hair.

Cortisol levels in your body rise when you’re stressed for more than a few minutes. This is, of course, completely normal and safe for a few days but if the stress level (rise in cortisol) lasts for longer, it causes high blood pressure, weakened immune system and many other health hazards.

Researchers have for decades studied cortisol levels in people and linked it to increased risk of heart attack and stroke down the road. The problem is that blood tests only show what the cortisol level is TODAY.

By studying hair samples, researchers could map cortisol levels months back (depending on how long the hair is). This can be likened to reading the rings on a tree. We can see what damage has occurred in the past rather than a single point in time.

Plus grabbing a single thread of hair is much less invasive than taking repeated blood tests.

The very good news is that if your cortisol levels or blood pressure are higher than they should be, there is a simple, easy way to bring them down. Just use these 3 easy exercises to drop your blood pressure below 120/80 as soon as today…

It is not breaking news that there is a link between obesity and type 2…

It is not breaking news that there is a link between obesity and type 2 diabetes. In fact the term “obesity-linked type 2 diabetes” is practically common place.

What isn’t understood is why there is a link between the two.

New, surprising research has provided much needed insight into this link. And it actually proofs that type 2 diabetes isn’t directly caused by obesity as was previously thought.

What is the real underlying cause of type 2 diabetes and how can you reverse it naturally? Find out in today’s article…

New research conducted by Dr Jane Howard and Professor Graham Lord, King’s College London and published in the journal ‘Cell Metabolism’ looked at obese mice that were genetically modified to lack T-bet protein (a protein which regulates the differentiation and function of immune cells and can increase inflamatory throughout the body).

What they discovered what nothing short of amazing.

The mice lacking the T-bet protein had much greater insulin sensitivity than normal mice of similar weight or even healthy weight. Since lower insulin sensitivity is the main characteristic of type 2 diabetes, this may be the key to cure it.

Even more amazingly, when the cells lacking T-bet were transferred to young mice, they were able to greatly improve insulin sensitivity.

What the study shows is that it isn’t really obesity that causes type 2 diabetes directly but the fact that obesity tends to increase the amount of T-bet protein, which again increases inflammation in the body.

This is yet more proof that inflammation is the main cause of type 2 diabetes. Something that I’ve been preaching for years now (in front of the dull ears of traditional medical people).
