High Cholesterol Cured With this “Unhealthy” FoodHigh cholesterol and other cardiovascular diseases are on the rise. Yet more people are taking statins and following the dietary advises of the American Heart Association.

So what’s the common sense solution then?

Group of Dubliner’s put a revolutionary theory to a test in a study published in the journal Nutrition & Diabetes.

Theory: If something isn’t working… do the exact opposite!

And the cholesterol results were astonishing.

Most of us grew up with the advice that dairy is unhealthy and we should restrict our intake of milk, butter, cheese, and cream.

According to this advice, dairy products contain saturated fat, and saturated fat increases our levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol.

In a recently published Irish study, though, researchers found evidence this might not be good advice. They asked 1500 adults to keep food diaries for four days. They also collected their subject’s fasting blood samples and conducted various other tests.

Those who ate the most overall dairy products had the lowest body mass indices, the lowest percentage of body fat, the smallest waist circumference, the smallest waist-to-hip ratio, and the lowest systolic and diastolic blood pressure… these are all signs of good health.

Beyond this general finding, their subject’s dairy consumption could be divided into three groups:

1. Those who consumed lots of butter and cream,
2. Those who consumed plenty of whole milk, and
3. Those who consumed reduced fat milks and yogurt.

If the traditional advice is correct, you would expect the last group to have yielded the healthiest results.

However, they had higher total cholesterol and triglyceride (blood fat) levels than the other groups.

Those who drank the most milk, whole or low-fat, had lower circulating levels of some inflammatory markers than their peers, and also had higher insulin sensitivity.

All this seems to suggest that we should start thinking differently of dairy consumption. If this study is correct, the saturated fat in dairy does not seem to do any damage and, in fact, with the exception of the anti-inflammatory IL10, it contributes to good health.

This is exactly in line with what we’ve been teaching in our Cholesterol Strategy. In fact, you can level your cholesterol and clear out your arteries in 30 days, by just cutting out one ingredient… and it’s not fat, cholesterol, sugar, or any other fad. Learn the details here…
