How Switching to “Unhealthy” Diet CURES High Blood PressureYou didn’t read it wrong.

A new study revealed that in some situations, loading yourself up with potato chips and pizza could drastically lower your blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure.

But this has to be done in a very specific way and there is, of course, an angle to the issue.

In a study looking at the effects of blood sugar in obese people, scientists recently published the strange findings in The Guardian.

However, their experiment was a little unconventional.

What the researchers did was to replace sugar-filled sodas and candy in the regular eating habits of the participants with what most dieticians and experts would also consider unhealthy: starchy foods like pizza and potato chips.

You read that right…

Giving obese people pizza and potato chips as a replacement for the high-sugar food and drinks like candy and soda was the experiment.

What’s more surprising than the method is the actual result. Not only did their blood sugar levels drastically improve (a reduction from 28% to just 10%), but their lipids and total cholesterol levels improved dramatically as well.

The thinking is that instead of changing total calorie intake, this method specifically targets sugar as the culprit for high blood sugar, and not just calories and types of foods.

There were problems with the study, like having no control group, but it does shine a glaring light on an area worthy of further study – consumption of refined sugar.

This also shows that sugar, not fat, or even other refined carbs such as flour and corn, is the number one enemy of your arterial health.

Sugar (and high fructose corn syrup) is pretty much 50% glucose and 50% fructose, whereas most other refined carbs are almost 100% glucose-based.

Glucose can be absorbed by almost all cells in your body. Fructose, on the other hand, needs to be processed through your liver, turned into fat/cholesterol and then either stored, or processed into glucose before it can be fed to your cells. This may be the reason sugar damages your arteries more than other carbs and raises your blood pressure.

Obviously, replacing one evil with a host of others can cause many other problems the study didn’t take into effect. You are much better off replacing all the evils with a good diet high in fruits and vegetables.
