Powerful Organism Treats High Blood Pressure (But Only if it’s Alive)Believe it or not, you eat organisms that are alive almost every day. You keep many of them in your food cupboards and in your fridge.

Several scientific inquiries have discovered that these lower your blood pressure and cholesterol.

You should, therefore, buy even more of them and fill your kitchen up as much as you can with them.

The probiotic industry is flourishing with more than a thousand companies from around the world that make probiotic supplements.

Probiotics are bacteria that encourage the growth of more bacteria in your digestive tract.

Yes, your intestines are crammed with bacteria, and many of them are quite unhealthy. This is why you need to consume probiotics; they are good bacteria that crowd out the bad bacteria that are already growing in your intestines.

Probiotics are already understood to have numerous health benefits. They reduce the instances and severity of diarrhea, they reduce pain and inflammation in inflammatory bowel diseases, they improve digestion, they treat some food allergies (like lactose intolerance), they alleviate gastritis, they improve the immune system, they attack inflammation all over the body (including that involved in arthritis) and they kill bad gut bacteria.

Recent studies also demonstrate that probiotics are heart healthy because they lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

Interestingly, the first study that demonstrated the blood pressure-lowing effects of probiotics was done in 1974.
At that time, most scientists seemed to think the author was quite mad.

But many studies have been done since then, proving he was right all along.

One of the first really well controlled blood pressure studies was published in 1995. it concluded that 95ml of sour milk daily for eight weeks could reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure by around 10 and 5 mmHg (millimeters of mercury) respectively.

This is almost as much as most blood pressure medications, but without any of the side effects.

And just in case you thought sour milk sounded too disgusting, sour milk is pretty much yogurt, and it is particularly probiotic-rich.

Recently, though, Chinese researchers have reviewed 14 studies with a total of 702 participants who were all fed sour milk. They discovered an average reduction of 3.1 mmHg when they combined all the studies. This is might not be as much as the previous study, but it is still an effect that is worth having, especially if your blood pressure is only moderately high.

It was also in the late 1990s that studies that uncovered the cholesterol-lowering effects of probiotics rose to prominence. One study on mice found that the consumption of probiotics for just seven days could reduce cholesterol by 38 percent and triglycerides by 40 percent. Studies on humans found the reductions to be around 10 percent lower, which is still a massive reduction.

It is not surprising that such a massive decrease in cholesterol lowers blood pressure, since it obviously opens up your arteries for natural blood flow. The other mechanisms through which probiotics work to lower blood pressure are still being investigated.

If you want to benefit from probiotics, you have several options.

You can consume a lot of dairy and fermented products. This is ideal for both omnivores and vegans. Omnivores can get a lot of their probiotics from yogurt and kefir, while vegans want to focus on tempeh and miso. Other great sources are sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, bread made with sourdough starter, and almost any pickled food.

If you don’t like fermented food, or if you follow an alkaline diet which forbids dairy and fermented food, you can buy a probiotic supplement, but you must ensure that it contains probiotic strains like lactobacillus, strep.
thermophilus, E. faecium, L. acidophilus, and so forth. These are the ones scientists have found to be effective for blood pressure.
