This Delicious Fruit Drops Blood Pressure 7 Points (and softens arteries)It’s great when you find something healthy that’s also enjoyed by practically everyone. Better health was indeed the result of a new study published in The Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics looking at a specific fruit.

Not only did this fruit significantly lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure; more importantly, it also softened arteries- something the traditional medical system claims is impossible to do without drugs.

In the study, 45 – 65-year old women, who already suffered pre-hypertension, were recruited.

The researchers gave a 22-gram daily dose of freeze-dried blueberry powder to half of the group. The other half received a powder of similar taste and texture.

After eight weeks, the average systolic blood pressure of the blueberry group had dropped 7 points and the diastolic blood pressure 5 points. The control group had no improvements.

Even more importantly, the arteries of the blueberry group had begun to soften significantly.

Hardened arteries are not able to flex in and out to manage higher blood pressure and other ups and downs of the day. They’re like rusty pipes full of cracks where plaque can build up and create blockages. This is the real cause of chronic high blood pressure, heart attack, and stroke. So softening the arteries is extremely important, but a difficult task.

The study subjects had pre-hypertension. This means their blood pressure was between 120/80 and 140/90. So using blueberries was enough to bring many of them down to a healthy level.
