The CDC has released new information on the number of Americans who are reported as taking cholesterol-lowering statin drugs. And it’s scary!
In what some are calling “impressive business growth,” referencing the dramatic growth of new users, the numbers don’t lie- cholesterol drugs are being bought at an all-time high.
If you’re taking statin drugs, you may unfortunately have bought into this horrendous marketing plan.
But it’s not your fault. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been used to hide the truth about cholesterol and how to conquer heard disease without medications.
The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recently released information on the steady rise of the numbers of people consuming statin drugs. In a release just before Christmas, 2014, federal health officials reported that the sale of cholesterol-lowering statin drugs has hit an all-time high.
The report stated that there has been an 8% increase in the number of adults over 40 using statins from 2003 through 2012.
The report went on to say that the total number of people for the same time frame using the drugs shot up from 18% to 26%. By the end of 2012, 93% of the people who use drugs to lower cholesterol were using a statin.
Medicine-friendly doctors were quick to identify what were called “treatment gaps” in patients battling cholesterol, citing what is estimated as 29% of people with diagnosed high cholesterol not taking a statin.
What some may call a “treatment gap,” others may refer to as having made an informed decision to not take the drugs due to the risk of bad outcomes attributed to known side effects, however…an element absent from the study summary.
Statin drugs are known to cause memory loss and confusion, muscle problems, sexual dysfunction, cataracts, and anemia. Even though problems (including cancer) with the pancreas are also caused by statin drugs, they are now among the list of recommended prophylactic treatments for all people with diabetes, (ironically, even if they do not have high cholesterol).
Additionally, a marked increase risk of developing diabetes is also on the long list of side effects and risks of taking statins.
So, Why the rush to fill the treatment gaps? Aside from the obvious and top factor of it being reliable in its growth from a business perspective, it is also been remarked that many people with high cholesterol simply prefer to take a pill than to do the work required to undo the damage naturally.
Actually, it is regarded by those in the natural health world as a harsh assumption that people who take the easy pill road are somehow lazy; indeed, there are a lot of factors that go into a rise in dangerous cholesterol that aren’t necessarily effort related.
Sometimes, It’s simply not knowing the truth about how easily one can naturally change cholesterol numbers back to a healthy balance. That message gets lost, though, when sales are on the line.
However, there is an actual plan that can drop that unhealthy cholesterol and even clean out those clogged arteries- and it can be done within a month, without drugs.
first of all why lower cholesterol?? From many books that I have read such as the cholesterol myth X cetera it points out that half of the people who have heart attacks have quote unquote good cholesterol and the other house have quote on quote bad cholesterol. There is no correlation between bad cholesterol and heart disease.
I would not try to lower cholesterol because it is needed for your brain and also be needed for the regeneration of your muscles.
as for anyone with diabetes, statin drugs will drive up your blood sugar numbers. Similar to what blood pressure medication does it dries up blood sugar numbers. I never took a statin but when I took blood pressure medication my fasting blood sugar went from 91 to 393.
why take a medication to get rid of a sign of heart disease when you develop only to develop diabetes which is a very very serious chronic ailments. I stopped taking the high blood pressure medication I didn’t do so at once I did so gradually and my blood sugar numbers fell back to normal.
yes I am part of that treatment gap and will remain so. I tried to do healthy things for my body I’m not perfect I really wish I were. I try exercising on a regular basis getting enough sleep eating lots of fruits and vegetables etcetera. I have made an informed choice after reading lots of literature as to the dangers of statin drugs, dangers of heart medication drugs, just plain old dangers of health maintenance drugs. I don’t trust them they come with a boatload full of side effects and destroy the body and ways but then make it necessary to take strong medications for remedy.
