Type 2 Diabetes and Depression Link DiscoveredFrightening.

People with both diabetes and depression have mortality rates twice as high as those with just diabetes.

Worse still, people suffering from diabetes are more likely to have depression in the first place.

So what exactly is this mysterious link between depression and elevated blood sugar level? You’re always asking the right questions, aren’t you?

The London-based researchers have concluded that inflammation is an important link between these two serious conditions. Inflammation occurs in response to injury, trauma and excessive stress. In fact, those with diabetes and depression had higher number of inflammation markers in their blood.

About 1227 people took part in this study. All the volunteers were newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Among them, those who suffered from depression were of younger age and had a slightly high body mass. On average, they had higher heart rates, circulation problems and high concentration of inflammation markers in blood.

About 6 of the 12 inflammatory markers that were measured were definitely linked to depression after taking into account other factors like age, sex, body mass and medications .

The shocking news is that death rates go up twice as high among people with diabetes as well as depression compared to those only with diabetes.

A healthy lifestyle, good diet and exercises can drive away inflammation and keep you free not only from diabetes and depression but many other problems too.
