Between donuts, fudge, and coke, there’s a lot of tasty stuff out there that your body’s health finds a bit revolting. Not a very pleasant state-of-affairs, eh?
In fact, sometime you’ve probably wondered, “Why are tasty foods bad for my health?”
But there is a particularly delicious fruit that enhances your health. So what fruit is it?
Just about everyone likes biting into a nice, juicy strawberry. But as you’re gulping that bowl of strawberries down, have you ever paused to think about the health benefits this fruit offers you? Fortunately for you, someone else has already figured that out. Researchers from UNIVPM, Italy and University of Seville, Grande and Salamanca, Spain, have collaborated to identify the benefits of eating strawberries regularly. They published their results in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry.
A total of 23 healthy volunteers were chosen for the study and they were asked to make one addition in their diet – a pound of strawberries every day, for a period of one month. Their blood sample was taken before and after the study period to analyze their lipid profiles.
The researchers made the interesting discovery that the level of cholesterol, Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL) and triglycerides had decreased by 8.72 percent, 13.2 percent and 20.8 percent respectively. The percent of High Density Lipoproteins (HDL), often called good cholesterol remained unchanged. Another thing that the researchers observed was that the effect of strawberries slowly reversed within 15 days. Interesting, no?
Apart from their effect on cholesterol, strawberries also improved absorbance of Vitamin C or oxygen in the system, decreased the effect of alcohol on gastric mucosa, enhanced platelet function, protected against UV radiation and assisted in blood clotting.
So what is it about strawberries specifically that causes these beneficial results? Researchers have an inkling that it’s the red pigment in strawberries, called anthocyanin, that is responsible for the healthful effects of strawberries.

after much reading on the topic if cholesterol especially about the side effects of statin, I have decided that cholesterol is good for me. It’s good for your brain it’s good for repairing muscles statin drugs block from your body in addition statin drugs block other chemical reactions that occur in the body.. I have spoken to people who told me that all of a sudden they couldn’t get a handle on their emotions shortly after starting to take the statin drugs.one of the chemical functions that drives cutoff is one that helps manage emotions…dolchols (sp).
I don’t trust doctors but still recommend cholesterol lowering medication such as statins or anything else. I have seen some of the victims my own dance teacher lost her ability to do complex dances and then started to develop extreme back pain. She was always extremely active and now she’s basically an invalid as a result of taking statin drugs.
in addition more and more research is showing that people who have heart attacks have low cholesterol. There is no correlation between high cholesterol and heart attack.
I believe in eating well exercising getting enough rest of sunlight for vitamin D are the type of things that will be good preventative medicine for me. Preventative synthetic drugs to be taken on an everyday basis that can help one little thing but can cause a truck load for the side effects it’s not the way that I wish to go.
