Would you believe it if somebody told you that a sweet could seriously help improve Type 2 Diabetes? After all, the first thing we learn about Type 2 Diabetes is to avoid all carbs, right?
If you find it difficult to believe this, you will be interested in knowing that a study published in Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine has confirmed this ‘too good to be true’ fact!
Bees are extremely useful insects and all their products – honey, wax, propolis and even their venom – are all useful products. Here is another product to add to the list – royal jelly.
Royal jelly is a type of compound secreted in the beehive that gives nourishment to the entire hive and assists the queen bee larvae development. The royal jelly is known to have plenty of health benefits. Some of the most important among them are its ability to lower blood sugar and cholesterol and provides antioxidants for the body.
In a pilot study, researchers examined the effects of royal jelly in reducing blood sugar level.
50 Women who were suffering from Type 2 Diabetes took part in the study. The participants were randomly given either a 1000 mg soft gel supplement of royal jelly or placebo. After the study period of 8 weeks, the blood sugar levels, antioxidants levels and oxidative stress of all the participants were measured.
In those who took the royal jelly supplement, the blood sugar level decreased dramatically from an average 163 mg/dL to about 150 mg/dL.
It also resulted in an increase in the insulin levels in the blood from an average of 70 picomoles/L to 86.5 picomoles/L.
Another small yet significant study conducted by a research group in Egypt showed that royal jelly is also useful in wound healing. As you might already be aware, wounds heal very slowly in diabetics. This can be a major problem because sepsis can lead to something as serious as amputation.
In the study, royal jelly was mixed with topical ointments and applied on foot wounds. The results were encouraging, as royal jelly helped the wound heal faster.
I’d like my husband to try this, how much does a man take of royal jelly?
Lisa: In this study they took 1000 mg/day of royal jelly supplement. You can find these supplements in any health food store. I don’t think there is any harm in even doubling the doze and take two 1000 mg/day.
Lets get your hubby, healthy 😉

I am not surprised with this information! Where I come from bees and their products are greatly valued.
Honey is an effective medicine for many health conditions and is a great and healthy substitute for sugar.
I take Royal Jelly for many years and thank God- in my seventies healthy as ever!!!
Lisa- even less than 1000 mg a day will be very beneficial to your husbands health.
Everyone should have a bottle of royal jelly in the medicine cabinet.
It is great for many things, not only it lowers blood pressure, it is also great to take it to avoid menopause symptoms and regulate hormones.
And it is true that it does miracles with wound healing.
Thanks for letting everyone know about this wonderful natural treatment!
I've known for years how good honey products are for a number of health issues–my dad taught us years ago to put honey on cuts & wounds and I have used honey from the area for my allergies in the Fall–(allergic to goldenrod&ragweed). SUPER! It can even take away diabetics!
