Is Testosterone Replacement Therapy Healthy Or Deadly? It is only perfectly fair that men desire to remain powerfully stimulated and make love with passion.

The problem is that many men are willing to try just about anything to make it happen, regardless of whether it’s safe or not.

Testosterone therapy is one such method that guarantees (but doesn’t always follow up with) amazing results but comes with serious risks, as shown by a study published in JAMA.

Testosterone therapy is often used to improve sexual function, sperm production and result in a more muscular body structure. While there are many men who have a clear need for this therapy, there are others who take it in the belief that it is a ‘fountain of youth’. They assume that the hormone therapy can actually make them feel younger and more vigorous. The truth is that this belief is inconclusive and some of the side-effects of this therapy include acne, enlarged prostate gland, atrophy of testicles among other problems.

Dr Rebecca Vigen and her team caution that the therapy comes with another set of serious side-effects that could actually put you at great risk for developing heart attack or stroke. They evaluated data on 8709 men available in Veterans Administration Health Care System.

All the participants had a total testosterone level lower than 300 nanograms/dL (the normal level being 348 to 1197 nanograms/dL) and had undergone coronary angiography to identify if they have coronary heart disease.

In this set, 1223 patients started testosterone therapy. The researchers followed up the participants for a period of about 2.5 years.

The study identified that men who were undergoing testosterone therapy were 29 percent more likely to get heart attack, stroke or other serious ailment compared to the others.

What makes the result more significant is the fact that this applied to those who had pre-existing coronary ailment as well as those who did not.

This study definitely sheds light on the fact that testosterone therapy can be a dangerous way of boosting one’s sexual powers. In most people, the risks might actually outweigh the benefits. A better option is to try natural methods like weight-lifting, exercises and a healthy diet to keep yourself fit and potent!
