The numbers for Type 2 diabetes in the US have been very grim in recent decades, with a startling number of people being newly diagnosed every year.

It is continuing to occur at an exponential rise, even among people who are younger and younger.

However, the prognosis isn’t all bad, as research from the U.S. National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

Scientists tracking 3 key health indicators for judging how well Type 2 diabetes is being managed once diagnosed had reason for hope recently, when they discovered that the number of people who were considered as managing it well increased from just 2% 20 years ago to more than 19% today.

Despite the astronomical increase in the numbers of new cases diagnosed, the results show that lifestyle changes and other methods to reverse diabetes are becoming more and more effective.

Markers used to judge how well diabetes is being managed include blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

Each of these metabolic functions interact with the other, and frequently when one begins to suffer, it isn’t long before the other 2 begin on an unhealthy pathway.

Conversely, though, as lifestyle changes cause one to improve, the same changes will benefit the other two as well. Additionally, even relieving the damage from one condition will have an effect on the other two.

More work still has to be done to get in front of the problem to begin with, in order to prevent metabolic syndromes and diseases from occurring in the first place, but the drastic uptick in successful management shows that not only do real solutions exist, but people are also taking full advantage of them.
