While drinking tea is lauded as a very healthy thing to do in general, a University in southern California has shown this particular variety has shown cholesterol-lowering benefits whether it is drunk or even if it’s taken in supplement form.

Researchers at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California recently have shown again how green tea is a powerful and inexpensive tool in the effort to beat back high cholesterol.

Using two groups, one receiving the tea and the other a placebo group, they were able to show how consuming green tea in either liquid or capsule form was able to shave off an average of 6 points of total cholesterol and even LDL cholesterol levels.

While drinking the tea proved to be more effective than capsules, researchers noted that the drop in LDL was seen in both uses.
