Some researchers claim that Westerners health is declining so rapidly that upcoming generations will be the first ones ever to have a shorter life-expectancy than the one before it.

Recent studies, however, indicate that we’re living longer – but sicker – than the generations before us. Is that really what we want, to suffer through the golden years from various health conditions, especially during years that we really should be enjoying the most?

I can actually visualize both of the above theories. However, there is a third option. Probably an option relatively few people are going to take. But for those who do choose this option, the rewards are tremendous.

Since it’s the beginning of a new year, I’m going to discuss what it takes to live a long, prosperous life, without having to suffer the diseases demonizing the modern Western world and eliminate health issues you already have.

I saw a pretty funny ad the other day but it had a scary message. A woman was pretty miserably trying to run a radio show when the real DJ comes in and takes over. As it becomes clear that the clumsy woman was actually the DJ’s doctor the narrator comes in with the message:

“You don’t want your doctor to do your job, why should you try to do hers?”

The real underlying message: “Never Question Your Doctor No Matter How Incompetent He/She May Be!”

[adrotate group=”5″]No doubt, this is a desperate attempt for the traditional pharmaceutical and medical system to keep its power. More and more people are opening up their eyes to the side effects of medications, repeated misdiagnoses, and other serious problems with the traditional medical system.

This has been brewing for a long time.

In July, 2000, Dr. Barbara Starfield of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health wrote an article that was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). In this article, she listed how 250,000 people in the USA alone die every year at the hands of their doctors or the medications prescribed to them.

The deaths are caused by following:

– 12,000 – unnecessary surgery
– 7,000 – medication errors in hospitals
– 20,000 – other errors in hospitals
– 80,000 – infections in hospitals
– 106,000 – “non-error,” negative effects of drugs

This is the third leading cause of deaths after heart attack and stroke.

Note that this was not some random article on an anti-government conspiracy site. This was an article written by a respected doctor and published in the highest ranked medical journal in the USA.

And this is not including the millions of people who survive these things but suffer every day for the rest of their lives, or the tens of millions who suffer serious side effects from prescribed medications.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I believe most doctors are well-meaning people that just don’t know any better. At the same time I’m realistic enough to know many executives in the big pharmaceutical companies are greedy, ruthless people who don’t care about anybody. This is well documented in many lawsuits and criminal investigations for the last 20-30 years.

Despite so many mishaps in hospitals, we live in amazing technological times where people can be kept alive long after anything in them is really living. Drugs can keep people going even if they’re suffering tremendously.

The movie IN TIME is a futuristic thriller. Technology has made it possible for everyone to live forever. But since our planet can’t bear that kind of population, time has become the currency and the poor will die before they reach their 26th birthday.

This is Hollywood’s way to address an issue that is going to be pretty pressing in the decades to come. If doctors and technology are going to be able to keep people alive almost forever – even if the side effects make it a living hell – how long should they push, and at what cost?

The medical system would, of course, say forever. This is a huge business and the longer they keep people on useless drugs, the more money big pharma makes. And if the first drug causes side effects, they have another drug counteracting the side effects while causing new side effects.

Cling, clang more money!

If you think I’ve lost my mind, consider this: Why isn’t anyone in the traditional system telling you about all the simple things you can do to drastically improve your health without side effects?

Let’s take high blood pressure for example:

1) Drinking 250mg of beet juice daily lowers blood pressure up to 10 points

2) Listening to relaxation music for 34 minutes a week lowers blood pressure 10 points

3) Mixture of rice bran and sesame oils used for cooking lowers blood pressure 14 points

These are just three simple things proven in scientific studies (by leading universities in the world) to drop blood pressure as much as 34 points combined. Now that just assumes the blood pressure was way too high to begin with. Since these are healthy approaches, they’ll not make your blood pressure too low.

These are much more effective than most blood pressure medications and cause no side effects whatsoever. We have similar cures for almost every condition that developed countries face.

Here at Blue Heron Health News we’ve published hundreds of articles about these simple approaches to lower blood pressure and cure other health issues. Browse our article library here…

So my question is, if this is so easy to do, why doesn’t your doctor know about it?

And why aren’t the governments all over the world, who are all drowning from the increasing medical costs, encouraging you to take these simple steps to improve your health?

The only answer I can come up with is GREED!

Time has become the new currency. The longer the pharmaceutical companies, the big hospitals, even some of the small doctors can keep our nations half sick and half alive, the more money they’ll make.

But as with all greed, this will catch up with them. Governments as well as individuals won’t be able to pick up the tab much longer. What happens then is anyone’s guess.

Enough of the Pessimistic, Here Comes the Good Part

In the beginning of this long article, I mentioned two options for the future of our health: 1) for those who can’t afford healthcare, (or if the government defaults) theirs will be the first generation that dies younger than the generation before them. 2) Those who can buy all the pills they want and undergo the surgeries they choose will experience a living death of being overmedicated with a list of side effects longer than Webster’s dictionary.

But there is the third option. You wouldn’t be reading this article if it wasn’t the option that you’re opting for:

Option 3 is to be self-reliant…to naturally focus on your health and not be the chronic disease hostage of the medical companies, and to not be drugged up like a street-junkie and live and die with the side effects.

This option requires a little bit of self-discipline and critical thinking. You must doubt everyone and listen to your own body and common sense because your body knows best.

Having said that, I find the natural health approach amazingly simple. After reading hundreds of books and thousands of health articles, it all comes down to five steps:

– Avoid Processed Food and Pollution
– Eat Healthy
– Minimize Stress
– Sleep Well
– Exercises Moderately and Stay Active

Following these simple steps will not guarantee that you never get sick. Bad things sometimes do happen to good people. But it will definitely lower your risk so drastically that if everyone followed them national health care costs would be cut 75%.

If you already have some of the conditions that plague 80% of people over 35, then you may have to temporarily take a little more drastic, detailed approach.
