We’re told every day about risk factors for a myriad of diseases and how they relate to high blood pressure.

And yet, every day it seems researchers are releasing more and more studies on the long-term and devastating consequences of uncontrolled hypertension.

Today we find out one more problem high blood pressure is linked to, and the results are not only frustrating, but also scary.

Research funded by the Swedish Cancer Foundation and released by several groups working together in Europe recently exposed yet one more ugly fact about chronic, uncontrolled high blood pressure.

As the researchers looked at incidents of prostate cancer and survivability, they found that men with hypertension and other metabolic diseases like a high BMI were much more likely to die from prostate cancer than their peers of similar age and family history who don’t have these metabolic conditions.

Prostate is the most common cancer to affect men. It is also extremely likely to be cured- in certain circumstances. Having chronically high blood pressure or suffering from Metabolic Syndrome drastically reduces chances of survival, according to the study that was also supported by the World Cancer Research Fund.
