Balancing dietary intake of certain fats has recently been highlighted as the best, most effective way to prevent and also cure arthritis.

But what does that mean and what are the fats that are being “buzzed” about?

Scientists have been looking very heavily in the last few years at the balance between Omega -6 fatty acids and Omega-3 Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAS).

What they are finding is that when the ratio of -6 to -3 gets upended, as is typical with most Western diets that are packed with processed foods, arthritis gets out of control.

Scientists in South Korea at Korea University College of medicine in Seoul found that getting the balance back to a healthier state by taking Omega -3 PUFA supplements has been effective at undoing the damage.

They looked at rheumatoid arthritis patients taking the supplement and noted a 48% reduction in occurrence of the disease.

Just 2.7 grams daily of the supplement was enough to show significant improvement for most of the participants.

Many over-the-counter and health food store supplements have options ranging in per-serving dosage of 2 to 10 grams.
