Slash Your Blood Pressure Using These Special Nuts

Researchers “stressed out” study participants recently to find out if adding a sweet little green nut had any effect on blood pressure.

And the results were amazing!

A study released recently from Pennsylvania State University followed subjects whom they subjected to mental and physical stress and compared their results looking at consumption of pistachios. Difficult math problems and tubs of ice water for the feet were the stressful stimuli used to induce a stress response.

Not only did the study leaders notice that the blood pressure went down more for people who ate pistachios compared to those who didn’t eat them, but they also showed improvements in vascular health and heart rate.

The best results (- 4.8 mm/Hg drop in blood pressure) came from eating 1.5 ounces of pistachios a day. Researchers, however, saw improvements in vascular health from eating up to three ounces per day.

Surprisingly (or not) it didn’t make any difference if the pistachios were salted or not. Nor did cooking vs raw change their effect.

I love the pistashios but they are always highly salted and I dont have the willpower to resist. I am trying though.

I have poured boiling water on 6 cloves of garlic and 2 celery stalks, and let it stand for one hour and I drank the water about three times for the day. My pressure always goes down with this. On Saturday last, I thought I was getting a stroke. My head was cramping and hand was numb. At 8:00 a.m. my pressure read 170 over 148. I drank the garlic and celery water about three times during the day. When I went to my doctor at 8:30 pm my pressure read 116 over 70. I have tried this many times and it has always worked for me. I trust that it will help someone.

WOW! I am going to buy a lot of pistachio nuts (I love them anyway, & eat nuts daily, from nuts.com. ALSO, going to make the drink suggested by reader, Margaret Haynes with boiled water and 2 celery sticks and 6 garlic cloves, steep off burner 1 hr * drink 3X daily. I really enjoy a regimin of soothing drink, and nuts. Thank you again, Christian Goodman ;)

Is that 1.5 ounces as purchased from the store or 1.5 ounces after you bring them home and snap the shell off with your teeth? Does anyone know?

  9. Emanuela says:

I found what Margret Haynes had to say interesting i wonder if you could make some sort of soup with the garlic and celery and if that would work. Pistachios are so expensive i usually buy almonds as I read somewhere that they are really good for bringing down blood pressure. Excercise, and moderate eating habits are the way to go, just wish I could follow these guide lines I find it very hard not to over eat at times and i guess that is what keeps my weight from going down.

  11. Jim Comrie says:

Indeed, surely a tempting soup made with garlic, celery and er perhaps onions, sweei potaoes, a fwe herbs and spices, perhaps tinned tomatoes would be just as good!

  16. m.chan says:

Thank you for the information on the use of garlic and celery. Also the eating of pistashio nuts. Wonder who discovered this ? Any proof available ? Martin

  17. Leigh says:

Margaret. If your presssure goes down only when you drink garlic/celery water what about the rest of the time when you don’t drink. You said you felt like you were having a stroke and your pressure was high before the water mixture so what good is drinking the water if your pressure just goes up if you don’t drink. That’s not consistent.

  18. Jerry cooke says:

Pistashio nuts are expensive to eat on a regulary basis and to keep your blood pressure down you would have to eat them every day. Dark chocolate is also good for blood pressure and thins the blood But it cost about $4.00 a week just for 2 squares a day. Then there is POM juice, which I do use,it cost $10.00 for 48 oz.that comes to about 20 cents an ounce and they say drink about 2 ounces a day. In April 2012,Prevention magazine had an article that claimed if you drink 1 Oz a day for a year your syn blood pressure should drop up to 20 points. I been drinking it everyday and blood pressure hasn’t dropped in 8 months. You have to be careful with garlic as it ,over time, can get your blood to thin, especially when you use enough to keep your blood pressure down. My gums started bleeding and my dentist took me off garlic and it cleared up. When you do enough celery to get your blood pressure down you may also have digestive problems such as diarrhea, and loose stools over time. Not every body can do all these health foods although some people may not have any problems. Also celery acts as a duretic and if you are older with prostrate problems you might find yourself getting up 4 or 5 times a night to urinate. Celery makes you go but it does nit take the salt out of your body as some people believe.

Great help and advice thanks Christian,I will try as I want to get off my medication.I hate having to take a pill each day.

  20. David says:

you need to watch out how mutch celery you eat in a day if you take blood thinners, celery makes your blood thin and you could bleed internal and not know it, for more info type in celery side efects on google, it is very good for you though if you dontg have certain things wrong with you.

  21. Gregory Garth says:

A hot drink with celery or celery seed is also good for arthriti and cardio.
