In a controversy-filled release of an 11-year study published in the journal Heart, Scientists are asking doctors to re-think the philosophy of advising seniors and post-menopausal women to take a calcium supplement.
The study implied those who took a calcium-only supplement were 86% more likely to have a heart attack than peers who took no calcium.
The international study following more than 30,000 people for over a decade found that people taking a calcium supplement were far more likely to suffer a heart attack than those who didn’t take one.
While the authors don’t directly tie calcium supplements to heart attack, they do note the correlation merits caution when prescribers ask patients to begin a calcium regimen and to be wary of dosage recommendations.

the problem is not with calcium itself, but with the synthetic supplement which does not suit the body’s metabolism like most synthetic supplements do. Eat properly, a balanced diet of frech dairy, meat, fish, veg and fruit and u will not have any calcium (or other) problems.
Also, there are so many variables – did the investigators take into account proper diet, smoking, alcohol, sugar and HFCs consumption? This is the reason why they publish contradictory research on a daily basis, and no need to take them too seriously………
Why do the scientists referred to, also chemical drug manufacturers and pharmacists, fail to understand that calcium only supplements should not be used?. Are they too thick (for a better word) to realize that calcium is safe if combined with magnesium, zinc and in some instances boron or vitamin D?. Calcium and magnesium must be used in tandem to be both safe and beneficial. These kind of safe calcium supplements have been promoted for over 40 years by Health Food stores and those who supply them with their natural products. Only in recent years has the pharma industry jumped on the bandwaggon as another of their inferior and harmful products is added to the SICKNESS INDUSTRY supply list.
The whole thing is beginning to be weird and unbelievable. People are left puzzled over so many studies that turns out surprising result and most of the times refute its others result, leaving us wondering what really to believe.
I agree, it is what one takes with it and also synthetic calcium is a no, no. As a matter of fact, eat the right foods that contain calcium and one will need no other calcium at all.

Ronnie, I couldn’t agree with you more. All these “studies” are sponsored by Big Pharma and the supplements used are SYNTHETIC – not natural. Of course they don’t work because they are unnatural and toxic. In nature natural calcium is always balanced with at least half magnesium to make calcium available to cells.
Calcium is critical in the prevention of osteoporosis and is a very important antidote to fluoride poisoning which is rampant in our society due to fluoridation of water supplies. Low blood calcium can lead to vascular collapse and cardiac arrest. 1,000 mg of calcium citrate and at least 500 mg of magnesium daily will protect you. Never use calcium derived from oyster shells or animal bone – they contain arsenic, lead, cadmium and other contaminants.

No eggs, now they are okay. NO coffee, now it is actually found to be filled with anti-oxidants. Very low fat and we all got fatter. Oh dear.
We are all smart enough to know that whole foods are the best. Organic of it is sealed when we buy it…or else, they spay the poison over it to keep it fresh. Low fat meats etc…okay. Every report I've studies shows slow and low carb is the best. Good fats such as avocados, EVOO and salmon [high fat fish]…fresh enough NOT to actually be rancid. No white sugar and flour. Watch for allergies to certain grains. Eat it, see how you feel.
What about a calcium supplement that has vitamin D with it?
Also, what about drinking almond milk? It has more calcium than milk, but it is added to the product, not naturally present in the product.
By any illegal way do the drug companies want to push their drugs so that everday we can take their drugs for the preventation and cure of all diseaes.
There will always be duality…. any hypothesis will have both positive and negative out come making one more and more confused… because life is a paradox…what suits one ma not suit other..that is why need to develop your sixth sense arises as one can turn to his sixth sense , what will benifit his body in this confusing times…

i think these doctors are going nuts one minute something is good for you and the next minute it’s not why do’nt they get their facts straight instead of confusing the public . they should make a study of one thing together before they send it to the public
As I understand it, too much calcium can be deposited in your arteries and soft tissues, especially from calcium tablets, that are made from limestone and chalk, cause basically that is what they are, with added minerals to help absorption, so I rotate my calcium along with the natural calcium, Lithothamnium calcareum (sea -vegetable) that I buy. I take calcium tablets in moderation and do not overeat protein, as in meat or other, as that will stop the absorption of calcium, and taking larger amounts of calcium will not do the trick. A portion of protein, the size of your palm should suffice. Calcium should always be taken with magnesium and other minerals. Calcium carbonate, in my opinion is one of the worst calcium supplements. coul c
