Adding to the mounting evidence that saturated fat may be in fact healthy, a new study published in this week’s American Journal of Clinical Nutrition discovered that lean cuts of red meat may boost heart-healthy “good” HDL cholesterol.
In this research, Penn State scientists assigned two groups of adults with heart disease one of two diets: the typical DASH diet and a healthy diet containing lean beef daily.
They found that both diets reduced bad LDL cholesterol levels buy only the beef diet increased low HDL levels. The scientists note that the minerals, healthy fats and protein in beef may be responsible for it’s cholesterol benefits.
A natural system that lowers cholesterol…
And simple exercises that quickly drop blood pressure…
bull
cool
What kind of reserch is that?
Yes but leave off the bun.
I am amazed at how us humans can put a spin on things to suit ouselves. This research was probably funded by the beef industry.
Research done with an end goal in mind.
Good sex lowers cholesterol too.
I believe this would apply to lean red meat from deer or other wild game.. or beef that are free range grass fed….and organic (free of antibiotics & growth hormones). Most of the American beef that are commercially raised are NOT healthy….and are generally banned in countries all over the world. Just sayin'
These studies drive me nuts. As Makr Twain once said, ‘there are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics.’
Red meat is very important for hormones, good quality protein, iron, etc. My relatives live in average more than 90 years and in Brazil we are very carnivorous, we have beef and lamb barbecue almost everyday.
For this Brazilian are knowing very horn, red meet in special beef is so important for keep the hormones high and very horny, why Brazilians are known as very horny, and we have sex almost every day, even with 50 years of age, I did some diet and when I stopped eating red meat I got this horny decrease.
Thkank you! I really use the advice you give.
Very helpful.
Shane, who do you think that made negative advertise about red meat?
The blood chicken breeders using heaps of hormones to the chicks grow fast.
Why, GAYS is growing tanto…… men loving men…urgghhhhh…

The last time I had my cholesterol checked, it was too low. I do NOT take statin drugs or any other drugs. Do I need to be concerned? If so, how do I raise my cholesterol level?
In Canada, about 4 is normal, 5 is high. Mine is 2.
My grandfathers both lived to be in their nineties and my mother 99, and as far back as I can remember all three of them ate large quantities of beef (at least 6 times a week) and the word “cholesterol” meant nothing to them. Most of the beef was produced by them as they lived on farms. Perhaps the animals ate more naturally than the feed they are fed today which contains toxins, steroids, etc. Added to the beef dinners we must include the fatty gravies consumed as well. Makes one wonder what the cause is or if the cardiovascular problems are more related to our sedentary type lifestyles.
I am now waiting for the next research finding which would reveal that saturated fats of animal origin is good for health! That lean beef is good for health is only the first step towards justifying beef eating WITH fat like our parents and grandpartents did…….they lived long! But…..it has to be beef from free range animals!
Take two bathches of carnivorous animals. Give one batch the commercial, chemically tainted beef and the other free range beef free of chemical contaminants. The results would be telling indeed!
I would likely buy and eat beef even without knowing this good news! This just makes it better!
yeah rite, n wat’s next ? it’s always best 2 just eat vegetables…
Dr. Usuf makes a great point, feed two groups of animals the different diets and see what will happen.
Natural diets are the best to use, but that does not include meat from animmals kept in unnatural crowded conditions and fed unnatural diets with tons of medicinals included. These animals are as “sick” as those of us who eat them.
I am glad to see some real research done.
Would it be possible to do some articles on coconut oil? I have seen some really great articles on that recently.
