Upping your intake of omega-3-rich fish oil boosts insulin sensitivity and reduces a key underlying cause of type 2 diabetes, according to results published in the newest edition of the European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology.
In this study, a group of 167 people with type 2 diabetes were assigned to one of two diets for 6-months. One group received a daily fish oil supplement while the other simply ate a diabetic diet. At the end of the trial those on fish oil had markedly improved blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity. Also, the fish oil dropped the levels of the hormone Adiponectin –a hormone linked to insulin resistance.

Thank you so much for this information. I recently started 1200 mg of Omega 3, 3x per week and noted that I felt so much better. I’m a Type 2 diabetic who injects insulin 2x a day. Recently, my doctor has recommended I start using Lantus to gain greater control of blood sugar; however, I prefer to use natural remedies if possible.
I’d appreciate any information you furnish in this area. I’m a young 57 year old who is very active. I’m a brand new grandmother and have a sincere desire to remain healthy. Love hearing from you. May God Bless You.
